in reply to: Mould on specimens #2618
On another note do people change gloves between handling different prosections and dissecting different prosections? Do your students change gloves between specimens? Would this help with mould spread?
Thanks
Rachelin reply to: Sending ashes abroad #1102Hi Ryan,
I asked Martin who I work with. He asked our undertakers, they said of a company below but I don’t think they insure the ashes though.

in reply to: Future IAS meetings #835Hi All,
I don’t mind, I am not sure when we are going away for our main holidays but I would make a holiday out of Dublin but don’t mind if it is in Keele. The August bank holiday properly would make it too expensive though if you had it then.
I think Australia sounds a great idea, though I don’t think HYMS would pay for that oh well I can only dream of going to Australia.
Thanks
Rachelin reply to: Spring 2010 Meeting #812Hi All,
I agree with John about the one day London meetings. I have only attended one one day meeting in London and went by train. I had to get out by 6.45am to get the train and just got to the meeting when it started and then had to leave before it had finished to get the 5.20pm train. A 2 day meeting is easier if you are traveling further to the venue.
If there will be 2 meetings one for I.A.S and then the other a joint meeting I know that if they are both in the march/April time I would only be able to go to one due to staffing issues due to courses been run then. This maybe an issue for other members A workshop sounds good that all members from all three societies could go to.
Thanks

in reply to: Brain Slices #743Hi,
In HYMS we label the whole brains with a plastic tag with the prosection number on and store them in an individual plastic bag in the fridge. The plastic bag has a tag with the prosection number on as well. Those that are sliced we usually put a wire or string through the slices to keep them together then store as above. It would be interesting to hear about microchips for labelling.
Thanks
Rachel
