Another CATS recipient!!!

Congratulations to Kate Boyd in University of Glasgow who completed the Certificate in Anatomical Technology and Science Viva in her workplace last Friday.  Steve Franey and Donald Farr travelled north to act as assessors for the viva and both commented that it was extremely successful and an enjoyable experience – we hope that Kate agrees!

Well done Kate, we look forward to presenting you with your certificate at the Dublin Meeting!

If you, or anyone in your department, would like to complete CATS – more information is available on: http://www.anatomical-sciences.org.uk/education/cats.htm

Congratulations to Gemma Bailey, Keele University and Dave Adams, RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust – both of whom have successfully completed qualifications with the IAS.

DAVE ADAMS is the very first recipient of the Diploma in Anatomical Technology and Science via Accumulated Experience (DATS-AE).  Dave filled out the module forms, self assessing his level of attainment in each of 10 modules.  Steve Gaze, Sue Evans and myself travelled up to Oswestry to put Dave through his paces in a viva that was to verify that what he wrote in the module forms was an accurate assessment of Dave’s knowledge and experience.  It was a comprehensive viva, lasting almost 4 and a half hours but Dave answered all of the questions we fired at him! After some deliberation, all three of us agreed that Dave should be awarded the first DATS-AE Certificate.

GEMMA BAILEY, who is the Anatomy Technician in Keele was next! Fresh from his DATS-AE viva, Dave Adams travelled to Keele with Lynne Jones to conduct Gemma’s Certificate in Anatomical Technology and Science viva.  Gemma filled out the application form (available on the IAS website: http://www.anatomical-sciences.org.uk/education/cats.htm), highlighting the duties that she performs and spend a morning answering questions posed by the assessors, who both agreed that Gemma should be awarded the CATS Certificate, receiving the maximum available 50 accreditation points.
